The 1,970-passenger Island Princess is an intimate cruise ship, with a wrap-around promenade deck and a beautiful atrium. 90% of the oceanview staterooms aboard this ship have a balcony, coming to a total of over 700 staterooms with a balcony.
A 2010 refurbishment of Island Princess resulted in the addition of a popular Princess staple, Movies Under the Stars (an outdoor 300-square foot LED screen and 60,000+-watt sound system), the refurbishment of the adults-only spa-inspired Sanctuary, as well as new carpeting and upholstery.
Island Princess has many entertainment venues available on board. Among them is the Princess Theater, the Paris-themed Princess Casino (featuring blackjack, roulette, craps, poker and many slot machines), as well as a bunch of bars and lounges. Some of the more popular bars and lounges include the Wheelhouse Bar, Crooners Bar, Churchill Lounge, the Explorer's Lounge (featuring nightclub-style performances) and the Universe Lounge.
Cruisers should be happy to hear that while on an Island Princess cruise you'll be able to enjoy swimming pools (including a swim-against-the-current lap pool), hot tubs, a full-service spa, fitness center, art gallery, library, writing room, nine-hole putting course, virtual golf simulators, and a 24-hour internet café. There is also duty-free shopping available on board, via the ship's boutiques.
Princess Cruises features their Personal Choice Dining program on all Island Princess cruises, giving you the choice between their Traditional (assigned) and Anytime (open) dining formats. This liberating option makes an Island Princess cruise a perfect for all types of travelers. Some of the dining venues available on this ship are the main dining rooms, a couple of specialty restaurants (see below), a pizzeria, ice cream bar, 24-hour buffet, and 24-hour room service. |
