Independence of the Seas is the youngest of Royal Caribbean's Freedom Class cruise ships. This massive (154,407-ton), feature-filled ship cruises year-round throughout the Mediterranean and Western Europe.

Among the many dining venues available on board Independence of the Seas are the main dining rooms (where guests that choose to enjoy dinner via Royal Caribbean's assigned or open, also known as My Time, dining formats), a Johnny Rockets® '50s-style restaurant, a couple of upscale specialty restaurants (including Portofino, and Italian restaurant, and Chops Grille, a steakhouse), and the Windjammer Café (which offers buffet-style breakfasts and lunches, with restaurant-style service for dinner). Casual options include Café Promenade, Sorrento's (a pizzeria) and a Ben & Jerry's®. Also available on board this ship, especially great for guests that would like to relax in the comfort of their stateroom, is 24-hour room service.

There are many entertainment venues and things to do on an Independence of the Seas cruise. For example, Alhambra Theatre is a three-level show room where there's a live performance during each night of the cruise. Casino Royale is the ship's large Vegas-style casino, featuring many popular games (such as blackjack, roulette, craps, poker and slot machines). Also available on board this ship is the mall-like Royal Promenade, full-service spa, fitness center, ice-skating rink, rock-climbing wall, video game arcade, as well as many bars and lounges (including Royal Caribbean staples such as Boleros (a Latin dance club), Viking Crown Lounge and the Schooner Bar).

Independence of the Seas is scheduled to undergo a refurbishment, starting on May 3, 2013. During this process, an outdoor movie screen will be added to the ship, as will Cupcake Cupboard, digital signage, pervasive Wi-Fi, and a nursery.
