Disney Cruise Line offers two wonderful cruise ships, Disney Magic and Disney Wonder. They are sister ships, so they offer a very similar onboard experience. Disney Magic cruises in the Caribbean (Eastern and Western), as well as in Europe (a new Disney Cruise Line destination, starting in 2010). Disney Wonder does Bahamas cruises year-round, with land packages available in combination with her cruises. The Disney ships are quite elegant, often reminding those onboard of classic ocean liners.
Their staterooms are rather large, relative to the rest of the cruising industry. Many of the staterooms feature what is referred to as a "bath-and-a-half."
The Disney Cruise Line ships were specifically built with families in mind. Because of this they do not feature an onboard casino, but do feature a wide range of unique and exciting onboard amenities. For instance, onboard each ship you'll find the Buena Vista Cinema (sometimes featuring advanced showings of upcoming Disney movies) and a special teens-only area. Many of the most popular Disney characters will make special appearances during each cruise.
Adults should be happy to hear that there are a bunch of adults-only public spaces onboard the Disney ships. For example, the upscale specialty restaurant (named Palo) onboard each ship is only for adults, as is the adults-only pool in the spa. There are also a bunch of great nightclubs and lounges onboard each of Disney Cruise Line's ships.
Not surprisingly, there is a fabulous youth program available for children and teens (ages 3 through 17). The program is split up into age-based groups and offers a wide range of activities.
Exciting recent news is Disney Cruise Line's announcement of a recent deal that will have two new ships built for their fleet (Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy). At 122,000-tons each, these ships will be much larger (and feature-filled) than the current (already fairly large) 83,000-ton ships. One ship is expected to launch in 2011, while the second is expected to follow in 2012.
