    American Cruise Lines

Imagine traveling along the famous Mississippi River and back through time to the Civil War era, exploring historical plantations and battlefields, before moving on to the hometown of legendary author Mark Twain; docking in historic New England harbors among beautiful sandy beaches, immersing yourself in maritime culture; cruising through Alaska’s Inside Passage, watching a group of bald eagles gliding into a breathtaking sunset; or sailing through the Southeast, stepping back into the time of the Revolutionary War as you visit living history museums and historical cities. All of these and much, much more are possibilities with American Cruise Lines, whose fleet of 14 intimate ships sail the Mississippi River, New England, the Pacific Northwest, Alaska and the Southeast..

American Cruise Lines has some of the most modern, state-of-the-art, and environmentally safe riverboats and coastal cruise ships of the nation. Every vessel is American built, flagged and crewed, and fitted with the latest safety equipment. No ship holds more than 185 New England Lobster Bakepassengers, and their itineraries span from coast to coast, covering many waterways in between. With over 160 available excursions, excellent enrichment programs, top quality cuisine and great onboard amenities, there is sure to be something for everybody to enjoy on an American Cruise Lines adventure.

Sailing with American Cruise Lines means that you can expect courteous hospitality and personalized service of an unmatched degree. Every crew member is ready to serve you with anything you need, both aboard and offboard the ship. They will know your name as well as your preferences. If you’re cruising for a special occasion, just let them know and they’ll be happy to provide a special birthday cake, bottle of anniversary champagne, or anything that can make your occasion extra special. Personalization does not end with the crew. With such a small ship size, you’re sure to become fast friends with your fellow passengers and many guests often arrange their next cruise together, creating new friendships that can last a lifetime.

    Dining

The cuisine served onboard each American Cruise Lines ship is a flavorful, open-seating adventure. The fleet’s master chefs will carefully prepare a customized menu where everything is cooked to order and made from fresh, local, and sustainable ingredients that are found right in port, sourced from local farmer’s markets and small businesses. Menus are adjusted by the season and reflect the local tastes of the region in which you’re cruising. Spice up your life with authentic Cajun and creole cuisine in New Orleans, savor the smoky barbecue flavors of Memphis, indulge in a variety of succulent seafood in coastal regions or enjoy a little bit of everything, including delicious bread pudding and tasty pecan pie in the Southeast. Complimentary wines and beers are served with all lunches and dinners and you are invited to enjoy a complimentary cocktail hour every night before dinner. Best of all, you can enjoy your meal in the unique glass-enclosed dining salon, watching the mesmerizing landscape pass by as you enjoy your meal.

    Staterooms

The accommodations provided by American Cruise Lines are so comfortable and contemporary that you may even forget that you’re away from home. The staterooms are among some of the largest on any cruise ship, with most of them measuring at least 220-square feet. The majority come with a large private balcony that provides a beautiful, undisturbed view of the outside, allowing you to fall asleep to the fresh river air and to the calming sound of water flowing along the hull. If your stateroom does not have a balcony, it will at least have a large opening picture window so you can still enjoy a beautiful, private view.

Other in-room amenities include a King-sized bed, large closets, a flat-screen TV and DVD player, writing desk, individually controlled thermostats and full-size bathrooms complete with spa toiletries and a hair dryer. You will also have access to twice daily room service as well as breakfast room service. Single-occupancy rooms are available for those traveling alone.

American Cruise Lines offers many great onboard amenities and inviting public areas that you can utilize in your free time, and with elevator access to all decks, you can be at your next onboard destination in seconds. Each ship features a handful of lounges that offer breathtaking, panoramic views, comfortable sitting areas and light snack menus, including afternoon teatime. Most ships also feature spacious observation decks, an Internet station, library, exercise room, and sundeck with lounge chairs, tables and a putting green. There is also complimentary wi-fi.

What's New for American Cruise Lines?

American Melody first embarked in September 2021. This 175-passenger ship boasts a revamped aesthetic with panoramic views throughout the spacious vessel. A sister ship, American Symphony, is scheduled to debut in 2022.

American Cruise Lines recently launched American Song, the first in a brand-new series of contemporary river boats. The 190-passenger American Song is environmentally-friendly and features state-of-the-art design throughout its five decks. One of the ship’s main highlights is the largest staterooms in the industry, each with a satellite TV and DVD player, hotel-sized bathrooms with full amenities and a private balcony with a sliding glass door. Other features include a majestic, four-story atrium, free wi-fi, evening entertainment, personalized service, a putting green on the top deck and complimentary cocktail hour. A sister ship, American Harmony, debuted in the Spring of 2019.

In May 2016, America (now American Splendor) made her maiden voyage, sailing along the Columbia River. Slightly larger than the other riverboats in this fleet (with a 175 guest capacity), American Splendor is designed with traditional Victorian-style accents, elegantly blending a traditional appearance with modern features and amenities.

Queen of the Mississippi, later re-named to American Heritage, launched in May 2015 and sails on the Mississippi River, with accommodations up to 150 guests. The sister ship to American Pride, this paddle-wheeler features special itineraries to cover longer stretches of the Mississippi on voyages. All staterooms onboard American Heritage feature private balconies and panoramic views, including floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors.

American Pride debuted on August 11, 2012 and marked the first new-build designed specifically for the Mississippi River, one of America's most famous rivers, in nearly 15 years. American Pride is also the largest of American Cruise Lines' ships, carrying 150 passengers. Designed as a traditional paddle wheel ship, all the romance of old-world river cruising is combined with the luxuries of modern service in perfect harmony.
