Carnival Sunshine is the name that was given to Carnival Destiny after she received a $155 million expansion and refitting that was completed in April of 2013. This exciting process was Carnival's largest single-ship revitalization ever.

The refreshed vessel was launched in April of 2013, doing a bunch of Mediterranean cruises, followed by a 16-night transatlantic cruise to New Orleans, which will become Carnival Sunshine's new home port. Once in New Orleans (in November 2013), this ship will alternate between 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruise year-round.

After receiving all of the planned enhancements, Carnival Sunshine has all of the popular Fun Ship 2.0 features. There is an all-new three-deck adults-only Serenity retreat, as well as Carnival WaterWorks aqua park. Some of the bars and lounges that have been added to the ship include Guy's Burger Joint (serving celebrity chef Guy-Fieri-designed burgers), the BlueIguana Cantina, Alchemy Bar, the EA SPORTS Bar, and the RedFrog Rum Bar.

Some of the other areas of interest that are available aboard Carnival Sunshine are a casino (that features craps, roulette, slot machines, blackjack and even has poker nights), The Punchliner Comedy Club (featuring comics that are hand-selected by the renowned comedian and TV personality George Lopez), a piano bar, and Ocean Plaza (a venue where you can eat and take part in trivia-type games during the day, which features live music and dancing during the evenings).

An onboard water park on Carnival Sunshine, this venue includes a four-deck high Twister Waterslide, 82-foot-long side-by-side racing slides, Green Thunder (with a nearly 100-foot drop), and more! It's one of the most popular areas on the ship.

This is a tranquil and elegant venue, where you can truly relax on board Carnival Sunshine. Great Children & Teen Programs
As might be excepted on a Carnival cruise, there is a fantastic kids program available on all Carnival Sunshine cruises, split into three main programs (Camp Carnival, Circle "C" and Club O2). Camp Carnival offers tons of activities for children in three different age groups: 2 to 5 years, 6 to 8 years, and 9 to 11 years. Camp Carnival Night Owls gives parents the opportunity to enjoy themselves while their kids are having fun. Circle "C" is for 12 to 14 year olds, and includes activities such as dance parties, games, and outdoor movies. Club O2 is for teens ages 15 to 17, and is a great place for them to hang out and watch movies, play sports and video games, join karaoke sessions, and have pool parties.
