A Signature of Excellence
One of Holland America Line's recent innovations is their ongoing Signature of Excellence® program, a $525 million fleetwide enhancement. Their ships will be undergoing extensive dry docks to create new venues, new staterooms (such as Lanai staterooms), new entertainment and enrichment options, new décor and more. Among the enhancements is their Culinary Arts Center, new cabin amenities (including flat-panel TVs and plush-top Mariner's Dream Beds), and new teens-only areas.
Fabulous Cuisine
The dining onboard Holland America's ships is top notch. The food is delicious and the menus are innovative. From formal dinners to casual poolside snacks, there's a wide range of options onboard each  Holland America vessel. New to the Holland America fleet is their As You Wish™ dining option in their main dining rooms, where you can enjoy a flexible/open dining schedule instead of the more traditional assigned dining format (which is still available to those that prefer it).
Enrichment & Learning
There's a wide range of enrichment and learning programs available on each Holland America ship. Among the many programs is their Culinary & Arts Center, presented by Food & Wine magazine, which features a world-class demonstration kitchen with classes and seminars taught by Holland America's Master Chefs or culinary guests. A new feature on Holland America is the Holland America Line Digital Workshop powered by Windows®. Other programs include "Wine Tasting and Mixology," "Party Planner" and "Signature Cooking Classes."
What's New for Holland America Line?
An exclusive agreement has been reached between the renowned Le Cirque restaurant and Holland America Line, as "An Evening at Le Cirque" will be offered in the Pinnacle Grill of each of the fleet's 15 ships. For at least one night on just about every Holland America cruise, the Pinnacle Grill will become a Le Cirque-like restaurant. On such evenings, the menu, wine selections, table decorations and other aspects of the restaurant will be altered to create an authentic Le Cirque dining experience. Reservations for this sure to be popular dining option are available at an additional charge. Special demonstrations will take place in each ship's Culinary Arts Center, giving guests the opportunity to learn how to cook a Le Cirque dish or two.
As part of Holland America Line's ongoing Signature of Excellence program, they added a variety of enhancements and new features to their fleet, including new public areas and stateroom upgrades, as well as an expanded enrichment program. During 2009 and 2010, four of Holland America Line's ships received such updates, ms Statendam, ms Ryndam, ms Veendam and ms Rotterdam. The beautiful ms Maasdam will have its updates completed during early 2011.
The newest ship in Holland America Line's fleet, ms Nieuw Amsterdam, debuted in July 2010. This beautiful ship is the line's second Signature Class vessel (the first was ms Eurodam). This 2,104-passenger ship is doing a variety of Mediterranean cruises during her inaugural season, and is sure to be quite a popular choice for those seeking an elegant vacation aboard a classic mid-sized vessel.. |
