Cruises from Seattle
Seattle is a wonderful port city, located in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. Because of its mass appeal, many travelers opt to stay a couple of nights in Seattle before or after their cruise, making a truly wonderful vacation package.
The majority of the cruises from Seattle are Alaska cruises (that usually sail round trip from Seattle, through the beautiful Inside Passage). There are a few other itineraries available as well (such as Australia and the exotic islands of the South Pacific).
Among the cruise lines offering cruises from Seattle are Celebrity Cruises, Holland America Line, Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL), Princess Cruises and Royal Caribbean. Because of its generally chilly or cold weather during the fall and winter, the season for cruises leaving from Seattle is from May through September. The most often featured Alaska cruises from Seattle are 7-nights in length. However, a selection of longer (usually 14-nights in length) Alaska cruises are available as well.

Celebrity Cruises features premium Alaska cruises from Seattle aboard Celebrity Solstice, mostly sailing round trip from Seattle for 7-nights, but also offering a couple of Pacific Coastal sailings. Holland America Line, who also offers premium cruises leaving from Seattle aboard two of their ships (ms Westerdam and ms Amsterdam), mainly has 7- and 14-night Alaska cruises from Seattle, but also features a limited selection of longer itineraries that go to the South Pacific and Australia, as well as a couple of shorter Pacific Coastal cruises.

Things to do in Seattle
These are just a few of the more popular tourist attractions in Seattle, along with a brief description:
♦ Pike Place Market
Located along the waterfront in Seattle, this public market is home to a variety of unique shops and restaurants. With around 10 million visitors annually, this venue is certainly a must see highlight for those taking a cruise from Seattle. Even if you're not staying a few days before or after the cruise (which we recommend), you can usually still squeeze in a visit there after the cruise (as long as your post-cruise travel arrangements permit one).

♦ Space Needle
Ever wonder what the giant space ship looking building in the Seattle skyline is? Well, it's the Space Needle! Take a ride up the glass-walled elevator to the observation level located at 520 feet high, and take in an amazing panoramic view of the city. From this vantage point, you can typically see the cruise ships that are docked at the port! This amazing work of architecture was built for the 1962 World's Fair and is visited by thousands of people on a daily basis. There's a gift shop and restaurant at this venue, and it's a great place to visit before or after a cruise from Seattle.
♦ Woodland Park Zoo
Wildlife and plant lovers taking a cruise from Seattle should consider visiting this 92-acre zoo. Filled with wonderful exhibits and a large variety of animals (over 1,000 from 300 species, including several endangered species) and plants, Woodland Park Zoo is one of the most popular attractions in all of Seattle. This zoo is open daily, except certain holidays, and its hours vary seasonally. |
