Viking River Cruises
One of the world's most popular river cruise lines, Viking River Cruises operates a fleet of ships that sail the rivers of Europe, Russia and China. Their ships are Scandinavian in design, with spacious public spaces and luxurious (all oceanview) accommodations. Because of their intimate size, Viking River's ships are able to cruise through rivers and visit ports of call that large cruise ships simply cannot. In fact, their ships were built specifically to travel through rivers. Taking advantage of this, Viking River is able to provide their guests with an in depth cultural experience of the ports being visited.
The food served on the Viking River ships is gourmet, prepared by their well-trained team of chefs. Dining is provided in an elegant yet casual open-seating format, featuring regional specialties combined with American fare. The culinary highlight of each evening is an amazing five-course fine dining experience for dinner. Their staff is attentive and courteous, always there to meet each and every one of your needs. While on a Viking River cruise you'll feel like you're staying in one of the world's finest hotels, as their staterooms have hotel-style beds with European linens and duvets, a private bathroom with a shower, as well as satellite television.

These programs provide Viking River's guests with a truly personalized and in-depth experience, helping them stand apart from much of their competition.

During 2016, Viking River Cruises welcomed the latest additions to its fleet with the christening of six new Viking Longships (Viking Rolf, Viking Kadlin, Viking Alruna, Viking Egil, Viking Vilhjalm, and Viking Tialfi). Of the six new Longships, four are deployed on Viking’s most popular itineraries on the Rhine, Main and Danube Rivers; the remaining two sail the Seine River on Viking’s Paris and the Heart of Normandy itinerary. Later in the year, Viking debuted a seventh new river ship for 2016, Viking Osfrid, which is inspired by the Longships design and specifically built for the Douro River, bringing the company’s total number of ships in Portugal to three.
Viking River Cruises continued its extensive fleet-wide expansion in 2014. In a multi-phased event that took place over 24 hours, the company christened 16 of its award-winning Viking Longships. The first-of-its kind ceremony was subsequently certified by a Guinness World Records™ adjudicator as 'The Most Ships Inaugurated in One Day by One Company.' Viking already held the previous record, having christened 10 new ships in one day in 2013.
A total of 11 new ships debuted for Viking River Cruises during 2013: Viking Bragi, Viking Skadi, Viking Tor, MS Vienna, Viking Var, Viking Forseti, Viking Rinda, Viking Jarl, Viking Atla, Viking Baldur, and Viking Magni.
