Search Help
You can select more than one option in most of the form fields. Here are explanations of the search options we get asked about the most often:
Departure Port: If you only want to view results for cruises that start in a specific port, you can
specify it here. You can select more than one (to see cruises that start at certain ports). For example, you can select both New York and Boston if
you only want to view cruises that start in either New York or Boston.
→ In the "Advanced Search"
Arrival Port: If you only want to view results for cruises that end in a specific port, you can specify
it here. You can select more than one (to see cruises that end at certain ports). For example, you can select both New York and Boston if you only
want to view cruises that end in either New York or Boston.
Ports of Call: You can the type name of one port that you would like all your search results to include. For
example, if you type Barcelona all of the search results will include cruises that include Barcelona (even if it's not a starting or ending port in
the itinerary). Be sure to spell the port name correctly!
Max Occupancy: Allows you to view search results that only include ships that have accommodations for a minimum
amount of people per room. For example, if you select "5 and more" your search results will only include ships that have at least one room
type that would accommodate at least 5 people. The pricing that displays on the search results page will be the per person pricing based on a room for
two people. Proceed further in the online booking process to view the pricing for accommodations for a different occupancy.
Kid-Friendly: Shows cruises that are great choices for those traveling with children and teens. Includes ships
with youth programs and/or youth-friendly public spaces. Programs and public spaces are subject to change, at the discretion of the cruise line.
→ Cruise Only vs Cruise Line Tour
If you check the Cruise Only option, you will only see results that are for a cruise vacation. If you check the Cruise Line Tour option, you will only
see vacations that include a cruise + land tour package (also known as a Cruise Tour). Leave both unchecked to view results that include
both vacation types.

South America Cruises
A South America cruise offers travelers a vacation in one of the most exotic cruise destinations in the world. Because of the very large
size of South America there may be stops during the cruise where it's very hot (in the northern and middle regions of the continent), and
also southern stops where it can get quite cold. Some of the more common things to do while on a South America cruise include visiting
tropical rainforests (such as the Amazon), sunbathing at beautiful beaches, as well as visiting
national parks and ancient ruins. A very exciting feature of some of the South America cruises (typically the ones that cruise through
Cape Horn) is that they offer scenic cruising in the waters of Antarctica.
Available in a wide range of lengths (anywhere from 3- to over 20-nights long), South America cruises are usually sailing between November
and early May. Those that want a more in-depth South America cruise experience should consider a South America cruise tour. Such a trip is
a South America cruise that is combined with a land package before and/or after the cruise.
The Galapagos Islands, one of the most exotic and exclusive cruise destinations, are part of South America. However, due to the fact that
Galapagos ports are typically only included in cruises that exclusively visit the Galapagos Islands, we have created a section of our web
site that is dedicated specifically to Galapagos cruises.
American Discount Cruises & Travel is proud to offer the best deals possible on all South America cruises and cruise tours booked with
us. Backed by our "Low Price Guarantee," and powered by our team of expert travel agents, we're sure to exceed your expectations when booking your next South America
cruise!
Highlighted South America Cruise Attractions
The following are just a few of the many things to do while in South America:
Cape Horn & Antarctica
Select South America cruises feature scenic cruising through the waters of Antarctica, as well as cruising around the magnificent
coastline of Cape Horn (the name of the Chilean area at the very southern tip of the continent, which Magellan famously navigated) through
Straits of Magellan, from the Atlantic to Pacific Ocean (or vice versa, depending on your cruise's itinerary).
Machu Picchu
Take advantage of the opportunity if you are able to visit the ruins at this amazing site in Peru, also known as "The Lost City of
the Incas." This awe-inspiring area (built by the Incas during the 15th century) is one of the most popular tourist attractions in
all of South America, and is accessible as an excursion on many South America cruises.
Buenos Aires, Argentina
Featured on many South America cruises, Buenos Aires is Argentina's largest city and capital. Buenos Aires is filled with beautiful
beaches, French architecture, as well as great parks, squares and galleries. Among the more popular tourist attractions in Buenos Aires
are Teatro Colón (one of the world's most famous opera houses), Puerto Madero (featuring a nice number of restaurants and bars, as
well as a few naval museums), and Avenida Alvear (in Recoleta).
