Search Help
You can select more than one option in most of the form fields. Here are explanations of the search options we get asked about the most often:
Departure Port: If you only want to view results for cruises that start in a specific port, you can
specify it here. You can select more than one (to see cruises that start at certain ports). For example, you can select both New York and Boston if
you only want to view cruises that start in either New York or Boston.
→ In the "Advanced Search"
Arrival Port: If you only want to view results for cruises that end in a specific port, you can specify
it here. You can select more than one (to see cruises that end at certain ports). For example, you can select both New York and Boston if you only
want to view cruises that end in either New York or Boston.
Ports of Call: You can the type name of one port that you would like all your search results to include. For
example, if you type Barcelona all of the search results will include cruises that include Barcelona (even if it's not a starting or ending port in
the itinerary). Be sure to spell the port name correctly!
Max Occupancy: Allows you to view search results that only include ships that have accommodations for a minimum
amount of people per room. For example, if you select "5 and more" your search results will only include ships that have at least one room
type that would accommodate at least 5 people. The pricing that displays on the search results page will be the per person pricing based on a room for
two people. Proceed further in the online booking process to view the pricing for accommodations for a different occupancy.
Kid-Friendly: Shows cruises that are great choices for those traveling with children and teens. Includes ships
with youth programs and/or youth-friendly public spaces. Programs and public spaces are subject to change, at the discretion of the cruise line.
→ Cruise Only vs Cruise Line Tour
If you check the Cruise Only option, you will only see results that are for a cruise vacation. If you check the Cruise Line Tour option, you will only
see vacations that include a cruise + land tour package (also known as a Cruise Tour). Leave both unchecked to view results that include
both vacation types.

Transatlantic Cruises
A Transatlantic cruise, a cruise across the Atlantic Ocean, is a fantastic vacation choice. Experienced cruisers love Transatlantic
cruises because they offer a great opportunity to enjoy the endless shipboard amenities available, day after day. Many history buffs love
Transatlantic cruises because it's an opportunity to relive the journey many of our ancestors took when coming to America many years ago.
Besides the wonderful ride across the Atlantic, many Transatlantic cruises
also offer stops in very exciting port cities.
The peak seasons for Transatlantic cruising are typically in May and September, since that is when most cruise lines move their ships from
one region to another (for example, moving a ship from the Caribbean to Europe). In essence, most Transatlantic cruises are actually
Repositioning cruises. However, Cunard Line features frequent Transatlantic cruises (referred to as "crossings" by Cunard)
throughout the year on Queen Mary 2.
Looking to take a vacation where you don't have to fly round trip? Well, a Transatlantic cruise is a great option for you since you can
conveniently use a nearby port city to your advantage. For example, there are Transatlantic cruises from New York, Miami, Barcelona,
Venice, Southampton, and lots of other cruise port cities. A popular way to book a Transatlantic cruise is to do so in combination with a
pre- and/or post-cruise land package, to allow a more in-depth vacation. For instance, you can take a cruise from New York to Southampton
and then stay a few nights after the cruise in London. Sounds good, no?
American Discount Cruises & Travel is proud to offer the best deals possible on all Transatlantic cruises booked with us. Backed by
our "Low Price Guarantee," and powered by our team of expert travel agents, we're sure to exceed your expectations when booking your next Transatlantic
cruise!
Highlighted Transatlantic Cruise Features
The following are just a few highlighted aspects of Transatlantic cruises:
Reliving the "Golden Age" of Travel
A westbound Transatlantic cruise, from a European city (like Southampton, England) to New York, gives their guests the opportunity to
follow the journey that immigrants took to get to America. In particular, Cunard Line focuses on this aspect and does a wonderful job in
doing so.
Theme Cruises
Select Transatlantic cruises
feature themes focusing on topics such as food, wine, art, music and sports. For example, on some of their sailings Silversea Cruises
features themes on Transatlantic cruises such as "For the History Lover" and "For the Art Aficionado." Some of the
themes on Crystal Cruises' Transatlantic cruises are "Big Band," "Film & Theatre Festival," "Mind, Body &
Spirit," "Golf" and "Ballroom Dancing."
Enrichment Programs
Many of the cruise lines that feature Transatlantic cruises offer wonderful programs on board their ships. For instance, Cunard Line,
Seabourn Cruise Line and Oceania Cruises all feature an enrichment program on many of their cruises. Most of these programs feature
experts from a wide range of fields (such as television, science, literature, cooking and art) giving lectures and/or demonstrations
throughout the cruise.
